Stem Cell Therapeutics - Introduction

Stem cells are considered as the basic cells of the body having self renewal and differentiating capacity i.e. stem cells can give rise to more number of cells and can differentiate into different specialized cells.

Stem cells have been extensively used as a treatment modality for degenerative disorders like cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, ischemic encephalopathy, diabetes type II, Diabetic foot ulcer, peripheral arterial disease and many more.

Stem cell therapy has become a better option for those disorders for which there is no other option. As in case of Cerebral palsy, the patients have lost all the hope as there is no fruitful medication. Such patients have tried stem cell therapy and got considerable improvements.

Stem Cell Therapy not only involves the transplantation of the stem cells in the body of the patient but also to track the action of stem cells through various tests. For ex., in cases of neurodegenerative disorders, the MRI or PET scan is suggested by the clinician.
